Machu Picchu by Car 2 Days 1 Night!

This trip is made for passengers who do not have much time to visit and above all who want to enjoy themselves without spending a lot.

The sanctuary of Machu Picchu was chosen as one of the second wonders in 2007, in a worldwide online vote. Since then it has been widely visited, there are 5 routes to get there and 2 of the routes are very well known.

1.- Train, however this tends to be very expensive, 2.- By car there is an alternative route that is entered by taking the Hydroelectric Bus, an option for all visitors who do not have the resources to obtain it or who love adventure.

Due to the change in altitude, it is recommended to take a pill for motion sickness or altitude sickness (Soroche Pill, Aspirin or Coca Mate), after consulting your doctor.


Day 1



Day 1: Cusco - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes


Our meeting point is at the Regocijo Square or at the McDonald`s in the Plaza de Armas from 07:00 to 07:10 hrs.
At 07:20 am, we will board our bus to Hydroelectric. On the bus, we will have a brief introductory talk as we leave Cusco. The tour will begin with a pleasant, scenic ride towards the village of Yanahura near Ollantaytambo. Along the way, we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the area and take a short 15-minute break. Continuing our journey from Ollantaytambo to the highest point of this trip, Abra Málaga, located at 4,316 meters, at the foot of Mount Veronica.
From this point, the journey continues through beautiful landscapes, with a taste of the high-altitude puna. After about 15 minutes, we will begin the descent into the jungle edge, passing through different micro-climates that make this place a paradise, with snow-covered peaks and a tropical climate. We will continue our journey on a paved road, passing through the village of Alfamayo until we reach the village of Humanmarca, halfway to our destination. Here, we will have our lunch, taking about 30 minutes.
Continuing the journey, we will pass through the village of Hyuro, located at 1500 meters above sea level, one of the largest producers of tea in Peru. The high-quality Huyro tea is produced here. Due to its warm tropical climate, there are also many fruit plantations, such as bananas, pineapples, mangoes, granadillas, oranges, tangerines, and more.
Santa María Village, located at 1500 meters above sea level in the tropical zone, is known for its large fruit production.
Santa Teresa Village, located at 1590 meters above sea level, is a very warm and peaceful place, famous for its thermal baths called Colcalmayo Hot Springs, a popular tourist spot. It is also known for coffee production and abundant coca leaves. Finally, we will arrive at Hidroelectrica at the private terminal of the company.
From here, we will start the walk along the dirt path beside the train tracks, which will take approximately 3 hours, following the Vilcanota River. From the top of the mountain, Waynapicchu will welcome us as we arrive at Aguas Calientes, where you will be taken to your designated accommodations. After a relaxing bath at your accommodations, it will be time to enjoy a delicious dinner with the guide.
At that moment, you will have the opportunity to review the itinerary for the next day`s visit to Machu Picchu. We will spend the first night here.







Day 2



Day 2: Guided Tour in Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco.


The departure will be at approximately 4:30 am, so we will get up very early to begin our adventure at a height of 2200 meters above sea level, we will begin our ascent towards the citadel of Machu Picchu at 2400 meters above sea level, this is a walk of 01 hour 30 minutes (approx. .) along a zigzag path through the beautiful jungle or you will have the option of going to the citadel by bus (not included).
We will meet the guide at 06:40 am at the main entrance of Machu Picchu, our guiding will begin at 07:00 am. Here you will have a two-hour guided tour of places such as; main temple, intihuatana, solar tower ending the guided tour on the sacred rock. Afterwards you will have free time to visit Machu Picchu.
You will return at 11:00 AM or (coordinate with your guide) to Puente Ruinas which takes 40 minutes walking and by bus 25 minutes (not included) from here you will have to walk back to Hidroeléctrica which takes 2 to 2:30 hours and finally Take the car between 2:20 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the private terminal, to return to Cusco arriving at approximately 9:30 p.m.
